Photography |

Generally speaking, there's no problem about photographing the exterior
of architecture. In case of photographing residences, extra consideration
has to be taken not to disturb the neighborhood. You should basically seek
permission first when you wish to photograph the interior, though every
case will have a different situation. In most of the cases, it is not allowed
to photograph the interior of museums and stores in Japan.
Remember to take off your shoes or change into indoor slippers if instructed when you enter residences, schools, and temples.

How to ask directions |
|
|
|
Ask directions when you are lost. People will take time for you. Speak
slowly and do not speak much. Do not make kind Japanese panic by giving
them too much English. Use only few words and show something visual like
maps or photos. Your begging face will do a good job too.
