Before WWII Kure is most important port of Japanese Imperial Navy. In
Kure City there were many plants especially Kure Naval Arsenal where 100,000
labor worked. Today JMSDF(*1) use military facilities, and private
shipbuilders use those shipyards.(photo#7) And the residence of commander
is available to the public.
Japanese Imperial Navy followed the example of British Navy. SAKURAI Kotaro who studied architecture in UK designed British-style house.
