This is a Buddhist temple standing on the edge of the Hiroshima delta. It is some distance away but couldn't escape the intense blast when the city was exposed to the atomic bombing. In 1960s, many of the structures on the premises were rebuilt. At the time of the A-bombing, the temple served as a temporary shelter and many A-bombing related memorials are seen, making the temple different from others.

The temple nestles in the mountains quietly, emanating an atmosphere Kyoto and Kamakura temples tend to have. The beautiful foliage of red maple leaves in fall are well-known and the temple attracts lots of visitors.

[For Visitors]
Free of charge. Visitors are allowed until 5:00 pm.

[Access]
[TRAIN] 20 min on foot from JR Kabe line Mitaki station. The walk involves up-hills.
[BUS] Take Hiroshima Bus (Red Bus) No. 22 bound for Mitaki Kan-non and get off at the last station Mitaki Kan-non. Walk 10 min. The walk involves up-hills.This bus goes via Hiroshima Station, Haccho-bori, Kamiya-cho, Tohkaichi, and Yokogawa Station. The shortcoming is there's only one service an hour. Also the bus bound for Gion O-hashi, though numbered 22 as well, does not go to Mitaki.
[CAR] The parking lot is available on the premises. It takes 10 min from the parking lot to the main hall. The walk involves up-hills.
