Terumoto Mori(1553-1625), the Hiroshima fief's first feudal lord and the man who build Hiroshima Castle, erected this temple as a resting place for his mother's Buddhist mortuary tablet. The temple was totally destroyed in the atomic bombing of 1945 and rebuilt in 1974.
