| As written in the page for Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, eternal world peace is destined to internationalism; TANGE employed international
style for the Museum. A term HIROSHIMA is symbolic for those who advocate
internationalism in many parts of the world. Art works and music concerning
Hiroshima has been created in many places. |

Let's take a look at this art work. On the universal form of gate, the
word Peace is written in 18 letters or characters and 49 languages. The
spans of gates are equivalent to those of the pillars of the piloti, paying
respect to TANGE. There has to be ten gates because nine gates represent
the nine hells in Dante's Divine Comedy and the last remaining gate represents
the A-bombing. It seems to be one relevant way of expressing internationalism.
Now that the survivors are really aged, it is an urgent matter to put out
more information and message from Hiroshima effectively. Art works sending
out clear message like this installation will become more valuable. |
